Two individuals detained following an extensive probe.

In a significant development, the Kiel Police Directorate, in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, has made arrests and seized a substantial amount of drugs in a cross-border drug trafficking investigation.

On January 8, 2025, Commission 17 of the BKI Kiel arrested a 44-year-old man and another male individual, aged 21, in the Kiel-Gaarden district in the afternoon. The arrests were carried out with the support of specialized forces from the PD Kiel and forces from the PDAFB.

According to Ricarda Blucha from the Kiel Police Directorate, subsequent searches of several apartments and their vehicle resulted in the seizure of several hundred units of cocaine and cash. In addition, a smaller amount of cocaine, a starter pistol, and ammunition were found at the residence of the 44-year-old man.

The Public Prosecutor's Office Kiel, represented by Michael Bimler, is involved in the investigation. The 44-year-old main suspect, charged with drug trafficking, was presented to the competent court, and a detention order was issued. The suspect is currently in a detention facility.

The 21-year-old suspect was released after the completion of the police measures. The K17 led the cross-border investigations with the support of the Bremen Police.

For further inquiries, the Kiel Police Directorate Press Office can be contacted at Gartenstraße 7, 24103 Kiel, Tel. +49 (0) 431 160 2010, Email: [email protected]. The information was originally transmitted by the Kiel Police Directorate and reported by news aktuell.

It is important to note that the main suspect in drug trafficking is held in pre-trial detention (Untersuchungshaft) only if the court decides so after investigation or indictment has been made, and if the suspect is urgently suspected of the crime. Additionally, one of the following conditions must be met: risk of flight, risk of collusion or evidence tampering, or danger of committing further crimes, particularly if the offense is punishable by more than six months imprisonment. The suspect must be brought before a judge within 48 hours of arrest, who then decides immediately whether to release or detain them.
