U.K. involvement in Gaza has escalated to active participation, a reporter claims before a tribunal
In the heart of London, the Gaza Tribunal recently convened, chaired by independent MP Jeremy Corbyn. The tribunal, designed to examine allegations of genocide and war crimes against Israel, has seen a series of compelling testimonies from medical, legal, political, and humanitarian experts.
One of the key speakers at the tribunal was investigative journalist Matt Kennard, who has been raising concerns about the UK's involvement in the Gaza conflict. Kennard has been tracking hundreds of British surveillance flights over Gaza since October 2023, and he disputes the claim that these flights are solely for hostage rescue.
Defense Minister Luke Pollard stated that British surveillance flights over Gaza were for hostage rescue, but Kennard suggests that they do not seem to be solely for this purpose. He claims that the UK military is providing "real-time" intelligence to Israeli counterparts during the Gaza war.
Kennard provides evidence of UK military involvement in the Gaza war, citing a British pilot's transponder that revealed flights over Gaza on July 28, 2023. He also points to an instance where a British spy plane hovered over Khan Younis for hours during an intense Israeli offensive, despite the Israeli Defense Forces claiming no known hostages were there.
The tribunal also heard accusations from Forz Khan, who suggests that the information that led to the strike on the World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy may have come from a plane flying from RAF Akrotiri. The family of James Henderson, a British aid worker killed in the WCK convoy, believes that the UK government's actions continue to breach criminal law by aiding Israel in the Gaza war.
Lawyer Forz Khan, who represents the family of James Henderson, claims it is "highly likely" that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is complicit in genocide. The family condemns the UK government for failing to respond appropriately to the killings and for continuing to arm Israel.
While the British government in 2023 did not have a publicly documented direct role in Israel's airstrikes on Gaza, allegations of British complicity in genocide and war crimes involving Israel are based on critical reports and accusations of Israel's actions in Gaza. However, there is no concrete evidence implicating the UK government directly in such crimes.
The tribunal serves as a platform for these concerns to be heard and discussed, shedding light on the complexities of the Gaza conflict and the role of various nations, including the UK, in the ongoing crisis.
