Ukraine's commander-in-chief reports substantial gains on the Pokrovsk front, with land recovered amounting to five times the amount lost in August.
Ukraine's armed forces continue to hold their ground and launch effective counter-offensives on several fronts, as the conflict with Russia persists.
On the Pokrovsk front, Ukrainian troops have successfully regained control of 26 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, bringing the total area under their control to a similar ratio as on the Dobropillia front. Over the past week, Ukrainian units on the Pokrovsk front have repelled approximately 350 enemy attacks. However, the Russians have concentrated their main efforts and created the largest offensive group on this front.
The Russians are trying to break through Ukraine's defenses on the Pokrovsk front, but the Ukrainian forces have managed to halt their advance. Intense fighting occurred in August, with the Ukrainians defending against a Russian offensive that at one point advanced more than 15 kilometers near Pokrovsk. The Ukrainian defense and counterattacks halted the Russian advance, although exact figures on territory defended or retaken in square kilometers during August are not specified in the available sources.
On the Dobropillia front, Ukrainian soldiers are holding their positions and conducting sniper operations. One soldier reportedly spent 11 hours in ambush to kill a Russian officer with the first shot. Ukrainian intelligence has also wiped out a group of Russian soldiers who boasted online about capturing a position on the Dobropillia front.
The Russians have also concentrated their efforts and created a large offensive group on the Dobropillia front, similar to the situation on the Pokrovsk front.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been actively involved in these frontline areas. Syrskyi has been carrying out tasks at the command posts of units engaged in operations in these areas, including the Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Siversk fronts.
On September 1, 2025, the Ukrainian units involved in the fighting on the Pokrovsk front included the newly formed Azov Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard. This unit successfully stopped Russian mechanized brigades (5th, 114th, and 132nd) that had penetrated behind Ukrainian lines, helped encircle three Russian brigades, and captured most of their soldiers.
The Ukrainian forces have also destroyed an expensive Russian Zoopark radar. However, an announcement about the downing of a Russian Su-35 fighter jet was later removed from social media.
Photos and videos of these operations are available.
The Pokrovsk front is one of the most challenging for Ukraine's defense forces, but the Ukrainian troops have shown resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
