Unauthorized Access: Employees Gaining Entry to Krah's Account
In a series of events that have raised eyebrows in the political sphere, a former long-time assistant of Maximilian Krah, a German Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2025 and now a member of the Bundestag, is being charged with espionage for a Chinese intelligence service.
Jian G., who worked as an assistant in Krah's office from 2019 to 2024, is alleged to have gathered and passed on sensitive information and over 500 documents during his tenure. The Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating Krah's role in these suspected espionage activities.
Krah hired Jian G. due to his competencies in the field of foreign trade, and the two men knew each other since 2015. Krah assumed everything was fine since Jian G. underwent a security check when he was hired at the European Parliament. However, it was later revealed that Jian G. is suspected of gathering personal information about the AfD leadership and surveilling Chinese dissidents.
The federal prosecutor claims that Jian G. has been an employee of a Chinese intelligence agency since 2002. A suspected accomplice, Jaqi X., is also on trial. She is accused of assisting Jian G. by transmitting data about flights, cargo, and passengers, especially about the transport of military goods.
The former employee of Maximilian Krah had unrestricted access to Krah's personal accounts, and the password for these accounts was the same for everything and changed every six months. Krah, when asked about possible payments from Jian G., invoked his right to refuse to testify.
Seven more trial dates are scheduled until the end of September at the Higher Regional Court. The prosecutor's office has applied to lift Krah's immunity as a member of the Bundestag. It is important to note that Krah did not receive any indications from German or European authorities about a possible threat.
Maximilian Krah won the direct mandate in the Chemnitz surroundings - Erzgebirgskreis II constituency in the federal election in February and is now a member of the Bundestag. The investigation into this matter continues, and further developments are expected in the coming months.
