In a shocking turn of events, Maximilian Krah, a former member of the European Parliament (MEP), is facing allegations of espionage. Krah served as an MEP from 2019 to 2025, representing the Chemnitz Surroundings - Erzgebirgskreis II constituency in the February federal election.

According to reports, Krah's former employee, Jian G., is accused of acting as an agent for a Chinese intelligence service. Jian G. served as an assistant in Krah's MEP office from 2019 to 2024. His employment at Krah's office began in May 2019 and ended in October 2020.

The indictment claims that Jian G. was an employee of a Chinese intelligence service as early as 2002. During his time at Krah's office, he is alleged to have collected information and passed on partially confidential documents to Chinese authorities.

A suspected accomplice, Jaqi X., is also on trial. She allegedly transmitted data about flights, cargo, and passengers, particularly regarding the transport of military goods, to Jian G. while employed at a logistics service company at Leipzig Airport.

Krah has invoked his right to refuse testimony when asked about possible payments from Jian G. to him. The Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office has applied to lift Krah's immunity as a member of the Bundestag.

It is reported that Krah served on committees for international trade, human rights, and security and defense during his tenure as an MEP. He was also part of the delegation for relations with the USA.

Jian G. is also accused of gathering personal information about the AfD leadership and surveilling Chinese dissidents. The Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating Krah's role in the alleged espionage activities of his former employee in a separate proceeding.

This development comes as a significant blow to the political landscape in Germany, with the investigation still ongoing and the full extent of the alleged espionage activities yet to be uncovered.
