Unauthorized Taking or Acquiring of Property or Belongings
In an unfortunate incident, a truck driver traveling towards Krefeld fell victim to an armed robbery on the A57, which occurred on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at approximately 19:10.
The robbers, who were travelling in an Audi, managed to deceive the driver by having one of the passengers display an ID and claim to be a police officer. Believing the suspect to be an undercover officer, the driver handed over his wallet and passport.
The suspect, who had a darker skin tone, displayed a weapon in a holster to further solidify the ruse. After taking the cash, the suspects discarded the wallet and fled the scene.
The truck driver, realising the deception, drove to the nearest gas station and notified the police.
The Criminal Investigation Department 23 is investigating the incident and is appealing for witnesses. If you have any information that could help, please come forward.
