On September 3, 2025, the Polk County Sheriff's Office, in coordination with the state Gaming Control Commission and the Auburndale Police Department, executed an undercover operation named "Operation Bad Odds." The operation resulted in the arrest of 28 individuals.

The operation targeted 11 locations that were operating as fronts for illegal gambling. All 11 locations were successfully tracked and search warrants were executed. During the operation, a total of 48 illegal gambling machines were confiscated.

Sheriff Grady Judd, in a statement, warned that people engaging in such activities will end up in jail. He also advised the public to avoid venues offering non-fair gambling games.

Mugshots of all culprits arrested during the operation have been published by the sheriff's office. The individuals arrested during the operation will face charges including keeping a gambling house, possession of slot machines, and disposing of money by lottery.

In addition to the arrests, over $100,000 in cash was seized during the operation. Furthermore, it was found that at least five individuals arrested during the operation were in the country illegally.
