Underground blaze erupts in Hannover Sahlkamp's residential area. At high noon, a fire started in the cellar of a multi-dwelling property, located in Hannover Sahlkamp.
On Wednesday at 12:15 PM, the Hannover Fire Department received a smoke report for a multi-family dwelling on Elmstraße. The fire department quickly responded, deploying 15 vehicles and 30 personnel to the scene.
Initially, it was assumed that the smoke was coming from the elevator shaft. However, further investigation revealed that the source of the smoke was a fire in the basement of the building. In the basement vestibule, rubbish was burning, and the smoke spread throughout the basement and elevator shaft.
The fire department used high-performance fans to clear the smoke from the basement and elevator shaft. The fire was successfully extinguished, and the "fire out" message was issued at 12:58 PM.
Despite the incident, no one was injured. After the smoke was cleared, all residents were able to return to their apartments.
The cause of the fire and any potential property damage are currently under investigation by the police. The exact perpetrator or cause of the fire has not been disclosed by the fire department.
