Helldivers 2, one of the most popular games of 2024, has received a new update titled "Into the Unjust." This update is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Steam), and PS5.
The update introduces several new features, including underground subterranean missions and a terrifying new "Rupture Strain" of Terminids that can burrow underground. Players will also encounter terrifying boss units like Dragonroaches and Hive Lords.
However, the update has exacerbated performance and optimization issues in Helldivers 2. Shams Jorjani, the CEO of Arrowhead Studios, acknowledged these problems in the official Helldivers Discord on Tuesday morning. Jorjani also apologised for the game's current state on social media. Johan Pilestedt, the head of Arrowhead Game Studios, made a similar statement after the release of the update "Into the Unjustified."
Jorjani assured that a fix for immediate performance issues is being prepared. Arrowhead Studios had vowed to focus on optimization and bug fixes for Helldivers 2 a month ago. The developers are also looking into the game's size problem, which has grown to over 140GB on PC after the latest patch.
Several top posts on the Helldivers subreddit have thousands of upvotes and complaints about the game's performance. Despite these issues, the Super Citizen Edition of Helldivers 2, which includes exclusive extras, is still available at a discounted price on Loaded. The game itself is also discounted, currently priced at $35.09, down from its original price of $39.99.
