University of Kentucky athlete under arrest, facing charges in connection with the death of an infant discovered hidden in a wardrobe.

Laken Snelling, a junior at the University of Kentucky and a three-year member of the STUNT team, has been charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant following the tragic death of an infant at her home.

The incident occurred on Aug. 27 at approximately 10:30 a.m., as reported by LEX18. The location of the incident was Snelling's home in Fayette County, where the infant was found in a closet.

According to the reports, the newborn was found wrapped in a towel and placed inside a black trash bag containing cleaning items by Snelling. The infant was subsequently discovered in the trash bag.

Upon discovery, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy on the infant was performed on Aug. 29, and the Fayette County Coroner's office will release the cause of death in due course.

Snelling was being held at the Fayette County Detention Center before her arraignment on Tuesday. However, she has since been released on bond and is now under the custody of her parents, Estella Foster and Lawrence Snelling.

It is important to note that Snelling admitted to giving birth and concealing the birth. The charges she faces are Class D felonies, which carry significant penalties upon conviction.
