Unlawful physical harm inflicted through violent beating and burial in a shallow grave
In a shocking turn of events, a dangerous assault took place in the Märkisches Quarter this morning. The police are currently investigating the incident, which occurred at a kiosk on Wesendorfer Straße around 8:30 AM.
According to the police report, a 33-year-old suspect attacked a 64-year-old customer and a 72-year-old kiosk owner with a knuckleduster. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed in the report, also allegedly damaged the window of the building's elevator on Senftenberger Ring before fleeing the scene.
The assault left both the victimised individuals with injuries. The 64-year-old customer and the 72-year-old kiosk owner were taken to a hospital for inpatient treatment, while the 43-year-old passerby, who was struck by manhole covers during the attack, sustained injuries to the head and arm and was treated on an outpatient basis.
The suspect was arrested at the scene on Senftenberger Ring. During the arrest, the suspect reportedly damaged the window of the building's elevator and sustained a severe hand injury. The suspect is currently undergoing inpatient treatment.
The investigation into the unknown motive of the assault is ongoing and being handled by the responsible specialist commission of Police Directorate 1 (North). The police have recovered and seized the suspect's knuckleduster as evidence.
The police report also mentions a request for witnesses regarding shots fired from a car onto a group of people in April 2025, without detailing the suspect's identity. However, it is unclear whether this incident is connected to the assault in Märkisches Quarter.
