A series of speeding drivers were caught during a recent speed control operation conducted by the Oldenburg highway police on the Oldenburg-Nord highway interchange.
The operation, which took place between 07:30 and 11:00, focused on traffic heading towards Wilhelmshaven. A total of 90 vehicles were measured, with a significant speed excess recorded in 3 of them.
The most egregious offender was a driver who was recorded at an astonishing 194 km/h, nearly doubling the permitted speed limit of 100 km/h. This driver now faces a substantial fine of 700 euros and a 3-month driving ban.
Two other vehicles were recorded at 176 km/h and 159 km/h. These drivers can also expect significant fines, points in Flensburg, and driving bans.
The police are reminding that excessive speed is one of the main causes of severe traffic accidents. Many of the measured drivers also face administrative offense proceedings, sometimes involving points in Flensburg and driving bans.
Regular controls will continue to be carried out by the Oldenburg-Stadt / Ammerland Police Station to monitor compliance with speed limits and enhance traffic safety. The initial speed limit on the section is 120 km/h, which is later reduced to 100 km/h.
