Unreported gunfire in the Bronx results in three injured males; perpetrators remain unidentified, currently on the loose.
In a troubling turn of events, a shooting incident occurred in the Bronx, New York, on Friday evening, leaving three men injured. The incident took place around 9 p.m. near 2540 Marion Ave. and East Fordham Road in Fordham.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), officers from the 52nd Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a 17-year-old man shot in the thigh and ankle, a 20-year-old man shot in the right knee, and a 28-year-old man who had suffered a graze wound to the back of his head. EMS treated the third victim at the scene for the flesh wound.
Both shooting victims were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment, and, thankfully, they were listed in stable condition. However, no suspects have been identified in the shooting incident, and no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.
Interestingly, the 52nd Precinct, where the shooting occurred, has seen a year-to-date decline in shootings. Through Aug. 24, the NYPD reported 10 shootings in the command, down 37.5% from the 16 reported at the same point in 2024.
Mayor Eric Adams announced an increase in police and violence interruptor presence around the borough the day before the shooting, following a recent rash of shootings. The shooting during a candlelight vigil near a church raises concerns about the escalating violence in the city.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting or the suspects is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
In a separate development, the possible perpetrators behind the shooting have been identified as Elias Camacho and two accomplices who were present during the shooting. Camacho was arrested for a drug offense and later identified as the main shooter. However, as of now, he remains at large.
The city authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The investigation into the shooting incident is still ongoing.
