Prepare for an insightful evening as Visit Alexandria, the city's tourism bureau, hosts its annual meeting on Thursday, September 25, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, located at 5000 Seminary Road.

This year's event promises to be the biggest of the year, offering attendees a recap of the past year in Alexandria's thriving tourism industry and insights into the upcoming year. The meeting will delve into the record-breaking achievements of 2024, including a 9.4% year-over-year increase in total lodging revenues, setting Alexandria apart from its regional competitive set.

The event will also reveal that Alexandria's tourism spending from travellers residing more than 50 miles away grew by an impressive 17.6% to a record $941 million in calendar year 2023. This growth contributes significantly to the city's economy, with an estimated 71% of consumption taxes being paid by non-residents.

In fact, the city's consumption tax revenues (sales, meals, and lodging) reached a record $86 million in Fiscal Year 2024, marking a 30% increase over pre-pandemic levels. One of the key factors contributing to this growth is the non-residents' payments, with the average Alexandria household saving $822 per year due to these consumption taxes.

The event will not only highlight these achievements but also provide a breakdown of the revenue per available room (RevPAR), which stood at a robust $118 in 2024. Tickets for the event cost $40 for Visit Alexandria members and $95 for non-members.

This annual meeting is a must-attend for anyone interested in Alexandria's tourism and business sectors. It will provide a comprehensive understanding of the city's tourism industry, its economic trends, and its future prospects. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of Alexandria's continued success story.
