Unveiled: New Blackberry Tablet - The Blackberry Playbook Tablet
Research In Motion (RIM), known for its BlackBerry smartphones, has unveiled its latest innovation - the PlayBook. Officially released in April 2011, the PlayBook is a tablet device designed to offer a versatile and engaging user experience.
The PlayBook boasts a variety of connectivity options, including microUSB, micro HDMI, and DLNA, enabling seamless integration with various devices. It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR for wireless connectivity.
One of the key features of the PlayBook is its compatibility with HTML 5 and Adobe Flash, providing a full internet experience. It also supports WebKit, Java, Open GL, and Adobe Air, ensuring a smooth and interactive browsing experience. The device's LCD display measures 7 inches with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, offering crisp and vibrant visuals.
The PlayBook is powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core Processor and comes with 1 GB of RAM, ensuring swift and efficient performance. It also features a 5 MP rear camera and a 3 MP front camera, the latter enabling video conferencing. The device's dimensions are 130mm x 194mm x 10mm, and it weighs 400g, making it portable and easy to handle.
The PlayBook runs on the new Blackberry OS6, which debuted on the Blackberry Torch Smartphone earlier this month in the USA. Unlike traditional BlackBerry smartphones, the PlayBook does not use cellular data for calls. Instead, users can use their existing smartphone via Bluetooth for calls.
Mike Lazaridis, co-chief executive of RIM, claims the PlayBook will be the enterprise standard for tablet computers. However, details about the PlayBook's battery life have not been disclosed yet.
The PlayBook supports a range of video formats, including H.264, MPEG4, and WMV, up to 1080p HD resolution. With its impressive specifications and features, the PlayBook is set to challenge the dominance of existing tablet devices in the market.
