Unveiled Video Collection: Aspirational Tales Emerging from Hidden Faces

In the heart of the Super Bowl on February 13, a 30-second ad will introduce a new video series titled "Our Calling: Stories from Behind the Masks". This series, available at ourcalling.urmc.edu, will spotlight the inspiring stories of employees who have been called to work in healthcare at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and its affiliates.

One such employee is Carletta Carter, who has dedicated her career to serving the community at URMC's Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Carter, who has worked for the institution for the last 22 years, oversees two clinical sites and began her training at the Eastman Institute.

Carter's journey in dentistry was unexpected. At the age of 17, she was hit in the mouth playing football, an incident that led her to pursue a career in dentistry. Since then, she has been helping hundreds of people in Rochester's underserved communities.

The Super Bowl ad featuring Carter opens with her singing, a song she sings with her mother every morning. The longer version of the ad offers a touching glimpse of Carter with her mother, who has Alzheimer's, and her colleagues. Carter's colleagues play a significant role in keeping her motivated during tough times.

Mark T. Taubman, M.D., the CEO of the Medical Center and Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Rochester Medical Center, feels privileged to work with thousands of people, like Carter, who are called to provide outstanding patient care, education, and research.

The Super Bowl ad will run on television and online, and will be supported by social media in Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Livingston, Genesee, Orleans, and Yates counties. This series aims to share the depth of dedication and commitment demonstrated by the employees of URMC and its affiliates.

Join us as we delve deeper into the lives of these remarkable individuals, unmasking the stories of resilience, compassion, and commitment that define healthcare workers at URMC and UR Medicine affiliates. Tune in to "Our Calling: Stories from Behind the Masks" and be inspired by the stories of those who have chosen to answer the call to serve.
