Updates Regarding the 2025 Local Elections
The municipal election in Bergisch Gladbach is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2025. Here's what you need to know.
Mail-in Voting
You can request mail-in voting materials online before Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The link to request these materials is: https://oliwa.kommunale.it/IWS/startini.do?mb=5378004B.
Red voting envelopes can be placed in the mailboxes at city halls, town halls, and the central election office until election day at 4:00 PM. If you fall ill on election day, you can still request a mail-in ballot until 3:00 PM. Relatives should go to the central election office at Scheidtbachstraße 23, 51469 Bergisch Gladbach, with a power of attorney and appropriate proof.
In-person Mail-in Voting
In-person mail-in voting is available at Zanders (An der Gohrsmühle 25, 51465 Bergisch Gladbach) until Friday, September 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Please remember to bring your ID and signed voter notification. Unfortunately, there will be no in-person mail-in voting offices in Bensberg and Refrath.
Voting on Election Day
Voting on election day at district polling stations will be from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This option is available for those who did not request mail-in voting materials or in-person mail-in voting.
Counting of Votes
The counting of election results will begin on September 14, 2025, at 6:00 PM. No preliminary results may be published beforehand. The preliminary results of the direct election on September 14, 2025, will be published after 6:00 PM on the same day, once the vote counts start.
Access to Results
The results of the municipal election will be available on the homepage of the city's website. The counting in all polling and mail-in voting districts is public.

In case of a runoff election, the in-person mail-in voting office will reopen on September 22, 2025, with the following hours: Monday to Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Friday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Those who have already requested mail-in ballots for the runoff with the main election will receive their materials once the ballots are available. In-person mail-in voting or voting on runoff Sunday will not be possible.
Unreceived mail-in ballots can be reported until Saturday before the election (September 13, 2025) by calling 02202 - 14 2888.
The election office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will be open from 7:00 AM until the completion of the counting process on election day.
