Upstate New York sees tranquil lake house designed and constructed by DGI Design x Build
In the serene surroundings of a lake where she spent her summers growing up, entrepreneur Nicole Wegman and her family have found a tranquil escape from the bustling city life of Manhattan.
The Wegman family purchased a property five hours north of the city in 2020, transforming it into a 7,500-square-foot retreat. The exterior of the home, softened by black-stained siding and a Tesla solar tile roof, is a striking sight against the natural backdrop.
Aristo served as the builder for the project, while Design Works Architecture took on the role of architect, DGI Design x Build as the interior designer, and Bayer Landscape as the landscape architect. Nicole's sister-in-law, Devon Wegman of DGI Design x Build in Chicago, was also part of the project team.
Stepping inside, the space is bathed in Benjamin Moore's Oxford White, lending a clean and airy feel. The home's interior features cream, hints of gray and blush, all sharing the same hushed saturation level. Performance fabrics are used on most of the white furniture to ensure easy cleaning, making the retreat a practical haven.
A white modular Pixel sofa offers an irresistible spot for reading, cuddling, and enjoying the lake views. The library, an airy refuge upstairs, serves as a multipurpose space for relaxation, work, and occasional off-site retreats for Nicole's team. It features a large custom conference table with concealed outlets and laptop storage.
The kitchen is streamlined and efficient, with a paneled refrigerator and freezer. The kitchen island is wrapped in glittering iceberg quartzite, adding a touch of luxury. The dining area features eight oak Gubi C-chairs, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Touches of natural oak and loads of tonal pattern and texture add dimensionality and warmth to the interior. The home's design is a testament to Nicole's eye for detail and her commitment to creating a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
