Urban Setting: Commencement of Training - Record-breaking Number of Apprentices
On September 1st, Mayor Dieter Stauber welcomed a new group of trainees and students in the grand meeting room of the town hall in Friedrichshafen. The event was attended by Dr. Sarah Gander, head of personnel development, Mike Brigant, deputy chairman of the works council, and Angelika Bauerlein, chairman of the youth and trainee representation.
This year, the city is training a total of 14 individuals across various professions and study programmes. Among them, one trainee each is starting in the study programmes Business Administration - Tourism, Social Work with a focus on children and youth work, Civil Engineering, and Bachelor of Arts - Public Management on October 1st. Four future educators are starting the practice-integrated training (PiA), and three senior fire brigade cadets have already started in the spring.
For the first time, the city is accompanying a student in the new study program Bachelor of Arts - Informatics. Additionally, five young people are starting the eleven-month vocational college (social pedagogy). Four are starting their direct entry into the training for social pedagogical assistance, and another four are starting youth and residential care - among others in the Spielhaus and in the MOLKE.
Three trainees are completing their practical part during their school training in a municipal kindergarten. This year, the city is also training nine administrative clerks, one specialist for bath operations, and one specialist for media and information services.
The city offers training in twelve professions and five study programmes. The companies expected to offer numerous training positions in 2026 include ALDI Nord, Netto Marken-Discount Stiftung & Co. KG, KiK Textilien und Non-Food GmbH, and ALDI Sievershausen. The city will offer numerous training positions in different areas in 2026 as well.

Approximately 1,600 employees make the city one of the largest employers in Friedrichshafen. The city is committed to providing opportunities for young people to grow and develop in their chosen careers. The welcoming ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting journey for these young individuals as they embark on their paths in various fields within the city.
