Vehicle blaze on Schloßallee, Bocholt fire department in response
In an incident reported by the Bocholt Fire Department via news aktuell, a vehicle fire broke out on Schlossallee at 19:53 on Saturday.
The affected area was a tow truck that was fully engulfed in flames. The driver, alerted to the fire by observant cyclists, was able to stop the vehicle and evacuate safely. However, attempts to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher were unsuccessful.
The Bocholt Fire Department responded promptly, deploying four vehicles and 10 personnel to the scene. They used heavy breathing apparatus and a C-jet nozzle to fight the blaze. Unfortunately, the adjacent grass strip also caught fire due to the vehicle fire.
Due to the use of water, the lower water authority of Borken district and the Bocholt city ordinance office were called in. The Bocholt Fire Department treated the area with an oil-binding agent to prevent any further environmental damage.
A contracted disposal company has been called to professionally remove and dispose of the contaminated material.
