Vehicle Collision on A2 motorway near FW Hannover: One fatality, three critically injured
A tragic incident occurred on the A2 motorway near Hannover-Lahe on Saturday evening at 17:29, as a Volkswagen Golf collided with a parked truck, causing the car to be pushed under the trailer.
The traffic accident investigation unit of the police has initiated investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident. However, at this moment, no specific details about the identities of the parties involved have been released.
The accident resulted in the tragic death of the driver of the VW Golf. Three other accident victims, two women and one man, suffered severe injuries and were taken to hospitals in Hannover for further treatment. The exact ages of the accident parties are currently unknown.
The incident led to a large-scale emergency response, with fire engines, a rescue helicopter, and special vehicles for heavy rescue being dispatched to the scene. The fire service and medical services were on site with 52 personnel and 19 vehicles until 18:45.
The driver of the truck was uninjured during the accident. Two passengers in the back seats of the VW Golf were able to leave the vehicle on their own or with the help of first responders. However, the two front seat occupants were trapped in the wreckage and had to be rescued in a complex operation.
