Vehicle Flame-out in Intersection A31A2
In an unexpected incident on Sunday evening at 5 PM, the Bottrop Fire Department received multiple emergency calls about a burning car on the A31/A2 motorway interchange. Upon arrival, a column of smoke approximately 10 meters high was visible, and the car was on fire on the on-ramp from the A31 to the A2 heading towards Hannover.
The Fire Department Bottrop dispatched two help and extinguishing vehicles, one tank extinguishing vehicle, and the Kirchhellen voluntary fire department to the scene. The source of the fire alarm calls regarding the fire situation on the A31/A2 highway has not been publicly disclosed.
The two occupants of the burning car left the vehicle independently and remained unharmed. To prevent any further spread of the fire, some trees protruding over the adjacent noise barrier wall were sprayed with water. The fire was brought under control with a C-pipe.
The on-ramp was closed for approximately 25 minutes to ensure the safety of the firefighters and the surrounding traffic. After the car was extinguished, the on-ramp was reopened for traffic.
