Vehicle Inferno on Schloßallee: Fire Department of Bocholt Responds
In an unexpected incident on Saturday evening, a tow truck caught fire on Schloßallee in Bocholt. The Bocholt Fire Department, along with the support of local authorities, successfully contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading further.
The fire department was alerted to the incident at 19:53 and deployed 10 personnel and 4 vehicles to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a tow truck fully engulfed in flames, with the adjacent green strip also ablaze.
The driver of the tow truck, who was alerted to the fire by attentive cyclists, was able to stop the vehicle and escape unharmed. However, attempts to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher were unsuccessful.
To combat the fire, the fire department used a C-jet nozzle and heavy breathing apparatus. The use of water required the involvement of the local water authority. Once the fire was under control, the affected area was treated with an oil-binding agent.
The Bocholt public order office was also called in due to the fire. The police provided support on-site during the incident. The location of the incident, Schloßallee in Bocholt, was treated with an oil-binding agent.
A contracted disposal company will remove and dispose of the contaminated material. The incident lasted for approximately 2.5 hours on Saturday evening.
