Venice Film Festival concludes and plans to unveil its honors, which could potentially provide an Oscar jolt

The 82nd Venice Film Festival, a celebrated event in the world of cinema, is set to conclude this Saturday. This year's festival has been a spectacle, showcasing a diverse range of films from various filmmakers across the globe.

The main competition jury, presided over by Alexander Payne, has been hard at work evaluating the entries. Notable members of the jury include Fernanda Torres, Mohammad Rasoulof, Stéphane Brizé, Maura Delpero, Zhao Tao, and Cristian Mungiu.

In the running for the prestigious Golden Lion award are several noteworthy films. Park Chan-wook's "No Other Choice," a darkly comedic satire about white-collar workers competing for jobs, has caught the eye of many. Yorgos Lanthimos's "Bugonia," starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons in unusual roles, has also generated interest.

Two filmmakers who have previously won the Golden Lion are back in the competition this year. Yorgos Lanthimos is nominated for "Bugonia," while Guillermo del Toro returns with "Frankenstein." Del Toro, who won for "The Shape of Water," features Oscar Isaac as a romantic madman and Jacob Elodri as the monster in this retelling of the classic tale.

Jude Law portrays Vladimir Putin in "The Wizard of the Kremlin," while Amanda Seyfried plays a human, feminist face in "The Testament of Ann Lee." George Clooney and Adam Sandler star in "Jay Kelly," a film about an aging movie star and his manager on a soul-searching journey through Europe.

Kathryn Bigelow's film "A House of Dynamite" is one of the possible Oscar heavyweights in this year's competition. Last year, several eventual Oscar-winning films were in the lineup at the Venice Film Festival, including "The Brutalist," "I'm Still Here," and the animated short "In the Shadow of the Cypress."

One of the standout moments of the festival was Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania's film "The Voice of Hind Rajab," which received a 22-minute standing ovation late in the festival. The film is based on the 6-year-old girl killed in Gaza and uses real audio from her call.

The awards ceremony for the film festival, including categories for acting, directing, and best picture (Golden Lion), will take place in the evening. The Golden Lion has been won before by both Yorgos Lanthimos and Guillermo del Toro. Last year, Jim Jarmusch took home the award for his film "Father Mother Sister Brother."

The 82nd Venice Film Festival has been a celebration of cinema, showcasing a diverse range of films and talents. As the festival concludes, anticipation builds for the announcement of the winners and the impact these films will have on the world of cinema.
