In the first practice session for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Lewis Hamilton took the lead, setting a dominant tone for the weekend. The seven-time world champion finished the session with the fastest time, followed closely by George Russell in second place. Max Verstappen ended the session in third, while Sergio Perez was fourth.

The session was marked by a heated exchange between Jos Verstappen and Antonio Perez Garibay, the father of Sergio Perez. Garibay recently expressed dissatisfaction with Red Bull Racing's leadership, believing that his son did not receive the car he deserved to become World Champion. In response, Verstappen stated that Perez has always received the same material from Red Bull Racing. He further implied that Perez's performance is not up to par, suggesting that he simply needs to step on the gas.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes team is facing no penalties for Hamilton's incident at Monza. The team is currently dealing with a calibration error that may be causing issues for their new driver, Jos Antonelli. The 18-year-old Italian made his Formula 1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix, replacing Lewis Hamilton and partnering George Russell. Despite a promising start that saw him finish fourth and set records as the youngest driver to lead a race and set the fastest lap, Antonelli's rookie season has had its ups and downs. Highlights include a podium in Canada, but lows like a loss of confidence due to car changes and a heavy crash at Zandvoort. Regardless, Mercedes continues to see him as a promising talent.

Elsewhere in the session, Charles Leclerc ended in sixth place, Carlos Sainz was fifth, and Pierre Gasly finished in seventh. As the weekend progresses, the competition is sure to heat up, with the Verstappen-Perez rivalry adding an extra layer of drama to the race.
