In a sombre turn of events, renowned German actor Arthur Brauss has passed away at the age of 89. The news was confirmed by his wife, Marie Pocolin-Brauss, to the German Press Agency.
Brauss, best known for his roles in TV productions such as "Großstadtrevier" and "Tatort", had been a staple in German television for decades. Over the course of his illustrious career, he appeared in over 100 productions, both domestic and international.
Some of his notable television appearances include "Der Alte", "Munich Stories", "Polizeiruf 110", "The Black Forest Clinic", "Derrick", and "Commissario Laurenti". He also graced the silver screen with his presence in films like "The Train" and Wim Wenders' 1972 film "The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty".
In recent years, Brauss had largely withdrawn from television and public life. However, he remained deeply cherished by his fans and colleagues. In his final days, due to his frailty, he required round-the-clock care.
Pocolin-Brauss, who died in Munich, was Brauss's wife. The couple had been together for 50 years and quietly married last year. In her statement, Pocolin-Brauss mentioned that Brauss did not suffer in his final moments. She confirmed that he died peacefully at their Munich apartment.
Arthur Brauss is to be buried in Munich. The "Bild" newspaper previously reported on his death, and the news has been met with an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues alike.
