On his 80th birthday, Sérgio Godinho, a renowned figure in Portuguese culture, is being celebrated with a series of tributes and honours. Born and raised in Porto, Portugal, Godinho began his career in 1965, moving to Geneva the same year.

His work, which spans literature, theatre, and music, has had a profound impact on Portuguese culture. He has collaborated with contemporaries like José Maria Branco and Jorge Palma, as well as newer generations such as Capicua and A Garota Não.

One of his most notable works, "The Survivors", describes the lives of those who defied a regime. This powerful piece is a testament to Godinho's dedication to telling stories that matter.

In recognition of his career and contributions, a tribute was organised by Radio Comercial and 41 Portuguese artists. Notable names among them include Jorge Palma, António Variações, and José Mário Branco, collectively honoring Godinho's influence on Portuguese music.

As part of the celebrations, a comic book or a photography book is being made to honour Godinho. His work extends beyond the stage and into the hearts of many, and this tribute aims to immortalise his legacy.

Godinho's message of freedom will be shared with the public throughout September. He has been active in "saltimbanco" for over 50 years, and his songs are deeply intertwined with psychology. With dozens of albums under his belt, Godinho's impact on Portuguese music is undeniable.

The tributes and honours for Sérgio Godinho are not just a recognition of his career, but a celebration of his life and work. They are a testament to the influence he has had on Portuguese culture, and a tribute to the man who continues to inspire generations with his art.
