Ngemi Golf Festival: Prince Moreno Takes Overall Win
The Ngemi Golf Festival saw an exciting conclusion this weekend, with several notable performances across various categories.
In the ladies' category, junior player Wangari Kibugu emerged victorious with a impressive score of 42 stableford points. Eunice Waiyaki finished second with 41 points, while Stella Nyaga claimed third place with 40 points.
The men's category was a close contest, with Ochieng' Abekah and Aggrey Sang tying for the top spot, both scoring 41 stableford points. Abekah was eventually crowned the winner following a countback. Jeremiah Kosgei finished third with the same score.
Prince Moreno, with a handicap of 27, shone brightest of all, securing the overall winner's spot with an impressive 44 stableford points. Faith Macharia, a guest player, matched Moreno's score to be declared the Guest winner.
Harshil Shah, playing off a handicap of 28, claimed the overall winner's slot in the stableford section with 42 points. Shem Tubei, with a handicap of 12, won the men's Division A for those playing off 5 to 12, with 37 points. Jimmy King'ori, with a handicap of 10, was the runner-up in this division, tied with third-placed handicap 8 Qmbar Somji on a countback score of 36 points.
Outside the main categories, Charles Kamari won the Seniors' title with 37 stableford points, while Nelius Kariuki finished second with 36 points.
In a separate tournament, Joel Mochanga, a player from Kenya Navy, recorded a 6 over par 77 to emerge the gross winner in the First Assurance golf tournament. More details about Mochanga and his achievements are yet to be confirmed.
The Ngemi Golf Festival concluded on a high note, with players and spectators alike expressing their delight at the close and competitive games. The next edition of the tournament is eagerly anticipated.
