Mainz, a city located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, has secured a respectable fourth position in a recent study conducted by the Jacasa platform. The study, which evaluated the largest cities in Germany based on various factors, included the two largest cities of each German federal state, as well as Berlin, Hamburg, and Bremen.

In the evaluation, Mainz performed exceptionally well in the Care and Health category, scoring 8.2 points, and in the Safety category, where it received a commendable 9.3 points. Mainz's relatively young population and good birth rate contributed to its strong performance in these categories.

However, Mainz did not receive the highest score in any of the five categories considered, which included Housing and Buying, Care and Health, Safety, Demography, and Leisure and Quality of Life. In the Housing and Buying category, Mainz did not perform as well, which is reflected in its slightly higher-than-average rent of 16.56 euros per square meter and purchase price of 5354 euros.

Despite these findings, Mainz is considered one of the safer and healthier cities in the comparison. Its high density of pediatricians and relatively good midwife care further underscores its commitment to the well-being of its residents, particularly families.

Interestingly, Mainz ranked higher overall than the metropolises of Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, and Hamburg, with Stuttgart being the clear last place in the ranking. Potsdam was ranked first, Neunkirchen second, and Ludwigshafen am Rhein third.

In the Leisure and Quality of Life category, Mainz scored 2.4 out of 10 points. The number of recreational areas per inhabitant and the accessibility of swimming pools in Mainz were below average, which may have impacted its score in this category.

Munich, the best-performing major city, secured a respectable seventh position overall. Berlin and Frankfurt am Main ranked 27th and 28th respectively.

This study provides valuable insights into the living conditions and quality of life in major German cities, offering a comprehensive comparison that can aid individuals and families in making informed decisions about where to live.
