Vibrant Night Market Offers Tranquility for Visitors
The Holy Cross campus buzzed with excitement on April 13, 2024, as the Peace of Mind e-board, along with Lily Nguyen, Vedanth Natarajan, Bess Jiang, Maya Benet, Berry Jiang, Elia Fisher, and Caitlin McNeil, the Peace of Mind OSI liaison, organised the much-anticipated Night Market. This event was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of traditions and cultures from around the world, a demonstration of Peace of Mind's commitment to spreading cultural awareness and appreciation on campus.
The Night Market took place in the Loyola Ballroom from 5:00-8:00 PM, and it was a resounding success. Eight student organisations participated, including the Black Student Union, Movimiento Estudiantil Progressive Action, Pinoys of Worcester, Caribbean African Student Assembly, Latin American Student Organization, PRIDE, Developing and Educating South Asian Ideologies, Advocating Student Interest in Asia, and even the French Department.
Each organisation had its own booth, offering visitors a chance to learn more about their culture and try some of their cuisine. ASIA, for instance, served delicious egg rolls and jelly straws, while DESI offered refreshing mango juice and chips. Latin American Student Organization (LASO) provided Mexican and Brazilian candy, and MEPA served Fruta Picada. Activities at the booths included trivia, card games, and origami tutorials, among others.
The Night Market was not just about food and activities. It was also a cultural extravaganza, with two performances that added to the festive atmosphere. Latinidad, the latin dance team, and Kxplosion, the Korean-pop dance team, put on spectacular shows that had everyone on their feet.
Meanwhile, the 2024-2025 winter season kickoff was the Men's Basketball Winter Homecoming game. On February 8, 2025, the team played an amazing game at the Hart Center Arena against the Boston University Terriers. The audience was a sea of supporters, cheering on their favourites.
The Men's Basketball game was a great kickoff for the rest of the winter season. But the real highlight was the Peace of Mind Night Market, a testament to the power of diversity and unity, and a reminder of the rich cultural tapestry that makes up the Holy Cross community.

As we look forward to the rest of the winter season, we can't help but feel a sense of pride in our community's ability to come together and celebrate our differences. The Peace of Mind Night Market was more than just an event; it was a moment that brought us closer together, reminding us of the power of unity in diversity.
