In a closely fought encounter at the Sportpark Ronhof, Holstein Kiel emerged victorious against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, securing their first win of the 2. Football Bundesliga season.

The game began with both teams showing their intent, with Holstein Kiel maintaining their dominance from the start. The hosts, however, rarely posed a real threat, as the away team kept a tight grip on the match.

The first goal of the game came in the 31st minute, courtesy of Jonas Therkelsen, who capitalised on a moment of brilliance to put Holstein Kiel ahead. The second half of the game saw a push from SpVgg Greuther Fürth, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

Despite going behind, Fürth continued to press, but Holstein Kiel's defence held firm. The second goal for the visitors came in the 90.+5 minute, when John Tolkin scored into an empty Fürth goal after a swift counterattack.

The best chance for SpVgg Greuther Fürth fell to Noel Futkeu, who shot just wide from close range in the 76th minute. A long-range shot from Branimir Hrgota went wide in the 39th minute, but it was not enough to trouble the Holstein Kiel goalkeeper.

The game was attended by 11,005 spectators, who watched as Holstein Kiel maintained their dominance even after the start. Despite having more possession, Fürth struggled to create clear chances after going behind.

The final score was 2:0 (1:0) in favour of Holstein Kiel, a result that leaves them as the Bundesliga returnees with their only win in the 2. Football Bundesliga season so far. Meanwhile, SpVgg Greuther Fürth will be disappointed to have lost their opening game of the season.
