Stuck Car Causes Commotion at Vancouver International Airport

A driver's mistake at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) caused a small spectacle on Saturday, as a vehicle became lodged between two railings near one of the airport's parkades. The incident, which turned heads of those present, did not affect airport operations, according to an airport spokesperson.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, attempted to exit the parkade via the pedestrian stairs. However, the vehicle became stuck on the staircase, remaining immovable despite several accelerations. The stuck vehicle attracted the attention of passersby, who stopped and stared at the unusual sight. One passerby audibly exclaimed "What?!" upon seeing the vehicle.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The airport spokesperson confirmed that the driver had been safely removed from the vehicle and that the vehicle has since been removed from the staircase. The staircase near the parkade remains closed for assessment.

The incident was captured on video and submitted to News. It is not yet known who the driver is, as there is no publicly available information about their identity.

Despite the incident, the airport projected an average of 90,000 passengers per day would move through the terminals during the Labour Day weekend. This projected number surpasses the historical high seen in 2019.

The airport spokesperson advised that the parkade is otherwise open and reminded users to follow posted signage to ensure a safe and smooth parking experience. YVR continues to operate efficiently, providing essential travel services to passengers during this busy holiday period.
