Video of a boy brutally assaulted while tied to an electric pole is actually from Bihar, contrary to previous assumptions that it occurred in Uttar Pradesh.
A viral video showing a brutal attack on an 18-year-old boy named Masoom Alam Raja has been circulating on social media platforms. The video, initially claimed to have been recorded in Uttar Pradesh, has been the subject of numerous media reports since its emergence on 23rd August 2025. However, recent investigations and fact-checks have confirmed that the incident actually took place in Bahadurganj, Kishanganj, Bihar.
The video shows Masoom being tied to an electric pole and brutally beaten with sticks. The victim, originally from Lohagada, was allegedly punished by a shopkeeper for theft. Following the video's widespread dissemination, a case was registered against Mojjam, Izhar, and ten others. Masoom received treatment at a government hospital in Bahadurganj, Bihar.
Upon investigation, it was found that the initial claims of the incident occurring in Uttar Pradesh were false. The UP Police Fact Check clarified this on two separate occasions, first on 27th August 2025, and later on further scrutiny. The viral video was actually recorded in Bahadurganj, Bihar, and not in Uttar Pradesh as previously believed.
During the incident, Masoom was threatened to stay silent. He was picked up from Jhansi Rani Chowk and taken to a location near NH 327E where the assault took place. The video has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice.
The case is currently under investigation, and the perpetrators are being sought by the authorities. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of verifying information before sharing it, especially in sensitive cases such as these. The public is urged to remain vigilant and responsible in their consumption and dissemination of news and information.
