Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich Receives Three New Command Vehicles
The Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich has reached an important milestone with the delivery of three new command vehicles (ELW1). The vehicles, long-awaited by the department, were manufactured by Reinartz, a vehicle body manufacturer located in Langerwehe.
The delivery took place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, marking the culmination of a process that began in May 2021. The tendering process for the three vehicles involved several companies, including MAN Frechen, PTS Group GmbH Dormagen, Schäfer Metallbau Obergartzem, BNS Berners-Nutzfahrzeug-Service GmbH, Fahrzeugtechnik Glasmacher GmbH Bergheim, and Fahrzeugbau Reinartz in Langerwehe.
The firefighters from the stations in Bleibuir, Kommern, and Obergartzem, along with representatives of the fire department leadership, traveled to Langerwehe to receive the vehicles. They left for Langerwehe around 13:30. Upon receiving the vehicles, they were transferred to the city area of Mechernich and put into service at the local stations.
