Vote for the fresh Council Officers
The city of Detmold has announced that the Integration Council elections will take place on September 14. This important event is an opportunity for citizens to have their voices heard on matters that affect the city's diversity and inclusivity.
The Integration Council deals with a variety of topics, including anti-discrimination, inter-cultural openness within the administration, and political education. The council also submits proposals to the mayor, provides suggestions, and supports inter-cultural actors in the city.
The Integration Council plays a crucial role in ensuring the consideration of the interests of citizens with migration backgrounds in political decisions. This year, eligible voters will have the chance to elect new members who will continue this essential work.
If you are unsure about your eligibility to vote, you can contact the Elections Team at 05231 977 114 or via email at the provided website. To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years old on election day, have your main residence in Detmold for at least 16 days before the election, and be legally resident in the federal territory for at least one year.
This includes persons with foreign nationality, persons with dual citizenship, naturalized persons, and Germans with foreign parents. Even if you have acquired German citizenship by birth in Germany to foreign parents, you are eligible to vote. Germans who possess another foreign citizenship are also eligible to vote.
Registration in the voter list for the Integration Council election is still possible until August 29. Voting will take place on September 14, at the respective polling station or by mail.
