The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) and Hall Sangsad Elections 2025 are currently underway, but a significant development has taken place in the electoral process. A writ petition filed in the High Court has led to the halt in the public display of the voter list.

The petition, filed by five students from Dhaka University – Sabikunnahar Tamanna, Md Zakaria, Fatema, Tasnim Jhuma, and Redwan Mondal Rifat – seeks restrictions on the publication of personal information of voters in the Ducsu elections. Advocate Faizullah Faiz represented the petitioners in court.

The Chief Returning Officer of the Ducsu and Hall Sangsad Elections issued a notification regarding the halt in public display of the voter list, effective from 24 August. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University and the Chief Returning Officer have been named as respondents in the petition.

The decision to halt the public display of the voter list was made following the petition. The petition also includes a request for the High Court to prohibit the publication of photos of female students who wish to keep their images private.

It is important to note that the voter list remains accessible to the concerned hall authorities and offices. The High Court's involvement in the Ducsu elections process is not unprecedented, as it has been a part of the electoral process in the past.

The Ducsu polls are a significant part of the Dhaka University's student body elections, and this development is likely to have a significant impact on the process. As the elections continue, more updates are expected from the High Court regarding the publication of personal voter data.

At this moment, there is no publicly available information about which students submitted a letter on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the relevant branch of the High Court demanding the publication of voters' personal data in the course of the Ducsu elections. The case is ongoing, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
