Warmer temperatures grace Colorado under high pressure, accompanied by clearer skies, but a chilly comeback is expected later in the week.

Warm weather and cleaner skies arrive in Colorado due to high pressure, but a cool-down is expected later in the week.

The upcoming week in Colorado is set to be dominated by high pressure, according to Joe Ruch, a First Alert Meteorologist with News Colorado. This means that temperatures will rise, with temperatures in Colorado reaching the mid to upper 80s by Thursday.

However, a trough of low pressure is expected to move in by Friday, bringing a change in the weather. This trough will bring a chance for light, fresh snow on the tallest peaks of Colorado's high country. Most areas will stay dry, but a quick hit-or-miss storm is possible.

As the trough of low pressure moves through, temperatures will cool back into the upper 70s and low 80s by Friday. Each day brings a 10 to 20 percent chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm.

The good news is that the trough of low pressure will also bring improvements to Colorado's air quality. The Front Range, high country, and Western Slope of Colorado will experience little to no concern regarding air quality. Wildfire smoke drifting into Colorado will be pushed east into the Midwest.
