Richmond County Fair Returns for 45th Modern Edition

The 45th modern edition of the Richmond County Fair is set to take place in Staten Island, serving as the biggest fundraiser for Historic Richmond Town. This annual event, with roots dating back to 1895, is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors from Saturday to Monday.

Historic Richmond Town, a nonprofit historical society, will benefit from the proceeds of the fair, with funds going towards historic preservation efforts across more than 100 Staten Island acres.

Tickets for the fair cost $15 for general admission, $12 for people 65 and older, $7 for children between 3 and 11 years old, and are free for kids under 2. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. The fair runs from noon to 8 p.m. daily.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of attractions and activities. The fair features kid-friendly attractions such as mechanical rides, pony rides, an inflatable bounce house, face painting, and demonstrations of traditional blacksmithing, carpentry, and open-hearth cooking.

A competition involving a variety of local produce is also part of the fair. A "special category" for this competition is best cucuzza, also known as "gagootz" in local parlance.

Over 100 vendors of food, antiques, and other goods will be present at the fair. A slate of eating contests for all ages is part of the fair, but the specific number of vendors and live music acts have not been disclosed.

No parking will be available at the fairgrounds, but visitors can park in the surrounding neighbourhood or at the Staten Island Mall and take a free shuttle. Alternatively, visitors can use the S54 and S74 buses to reach the fair.

The fair promises to be an exciting event for all ages, with something for everyone. Don't miss out on the opportunity to experience the rich history and vibrant community spirit of Staten Island at the Richmond County Fair.
