Weekend Celebration in Aachen Embraces Diversity, From Coronation Hall to Katschhof
In the heart of Aachen, Germany, the city celebrated its rich diversity with the 13th Aachen Diversity Prize and naturalization ceremonies for new citizens.
The prestigious honorary prize was awarded to the "Working Group Dialogue of Religions" and several individuals and groups within the framework of the Long Table of Diversity. Among the recipients were the Aachen association Talentschmiede e.V., co-founder of the artistic collective "Rebell Comedy" Babak Ghassim, and Stephan Kirschbaum, Stephan Manz, and Gönül Fazlaoglu from the Aachen Support Office (ABB).
The event, held on the Katschhof stage for the first time this year, featured a vibrant stage program. Performances included those by NeonGrau52, Daisy Grow Yellow, Rock Spot, DJ Yomoko, The Quicksteps, and dance performances by B-Girls Annika and Lakisha.
The "Market of Diversity" was also held, offering various associations, initiatives, and organizations a platform to present their work. Visitors could engage in conversation, discover offers on topics such as participation, equal opportunities, and democracy promotion.
Mayor Sibylle Keupen emphasised the importance of diversity in Aachen, with nearly a third of its population having an international family history. She stated, "Diversity is a tradition in Aachen."

On August 29th and 30th, 2023, the city of Aachen welcomed 600 guests on the first day and another 500 on the second day for naturalization ceremonies. The ceremonies took place in the historic Coronation Hall and Aachener Katschhof.
In a moving conclusion, the organization "LAG Lesben in NRW" received the Aachen Diversity Award. The Long Table of Diversity event followed the ceremonies, inviting people of all generations to eat, laugh, and exchange ideas.
The city of Aachen continues to celebrate and promote its diverse community, fostering an open, tolerant society for all its residents.
