Weekend fires under investigation, authorities seek any relevant bystanders.
In a series of unusual events, several fires have broken out across the city of Duisburg over the weekend.
On Friday afternoon, two garage fires occurred at Ottostraße in Hochheide. The cause of these fires remains unknown. No personal or property damage was reported in the garage fire in Hochheide where the tires were set on fire, and the building was not damaged either. In another garage in the same area, a VW Beetle Cabrio was on fire around 9 PM. The Duisburg Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the involvement of a fire expert regarding this incident.
On the same day, a fire broke out in a driving school on Augustastraße in Alt-Homberg at approximately 1:40 PM. The fire originated from a PC in the driving school, and no injuries were reported. Emergency services closed Viktoriastraße and Augustastraße during the firefighting operations.
Later that evening, around 5:30 PM, unknown individuals set fire to a safety net on a construction site at Humboldtstraße in Alt-Hamborn.
The most peculiar incident occurred on Saturday evening at approximately 10 PM when a Bengal firework was set alight in a parked Nissan Micra on Elisenstraße in Marxloh. No signs of forced entry were found, and the name of the person or organization responsible for the arson is currently unknown. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the KK 11.
Adding to the series of events, witnesses reported seeing two girls on a scaffold who then fled from the construction site at Humboldtstraße. One girl is described as approximately 1.75 meters tall, slim, with brown hair, wearing a black shirt with pink lettering ("Miami"), black jeans, and white shoes. The other girl is estimated to be about 1.65 meters tall, also slim, with black hair, wearing a black shirt, light blue jeans, and black shoes. Witnesses who have observed any suspicious activity or seen these two girls are asked to contact the Criminal Commission 11 at telephone number 0203 2800.
The Criminal Police are seeking information about the fires that occurred over the weekend. Anyone with information is urged to come forward and assist in the investigations.
