The holiday season in Latvia is filled with rich traditions, and this year, music lovers have plenty to look forward to. Here's a roundup of some unmissable concerts taking place in the coming days.

On Sunday, December 13, at 7:00 PM, the Riga Lutheran Evangelical Church will host the "European Christmas" festival concert. Conducted by Kristina Kühnbaum-Schmidt, the event promises a programme of 20th-century French sacred choral music and chamber music from Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Eugene Bozza. Aigars Raumanis and Aigars Reinis will grace the stage as saxophonist and organist, respectively, while the participating bands and groups remain to be announced. More information about the concert can be found on Facebook.

If you're interested in a more contemporary twist, head to the Dzintari Concert Hall in Jūrmala on December 14, at 7:00 PM. On this evening, the youth choir MASKA, rock band Pērkons, and vocal group Cosmos will collaborate for an unforgettable show. MASKA will perform a cappella arrangements of rock songs by Pērkons, making for an exciting fusion of genres.

The Yule log tradition, one of the most ancient and popular Latvian solstice traditions, will also be celebrated during this period. On December 15, the tradition takes place at Āraiši Archeological Park. Participants will drag a log symbolizing the sun and signifying fertility, leaving their bad thoughts from the year past in the log. Folk dance group Dandari will be present, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Finally, for those who appreciate the beauty of choir arrangements, don't miss the Latvian Radio Choir's program for the European Christmas Festival, titled "Christmas in France." The concert takes place at the Rīga Lutheran Evangelical Church on December 13, but the exact time is yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for more details!

No matter which concert you choose to attend, you're in for a treat this holiday season in Latvia. Happy celebrating!
