Weekend Revelries and "Bagach" Fun: Enjoying Your Time in "Sula"
Get ready for an unforgettable journey through time as the medieval history park "Sula" prepares to host a series of captivating events throughout September. Located in the picturesque Stolbtsovsky District, Minsk Region, near the village of Sula, approximately 50-55 km from the capital (GPS Coordinates: 53.738789, 26.883066), the park offers a unique blend of history, culture, and entertainment.
The festivities kick off on the first weekend (September 6 and 7) with a focus on Belarusian wedding traditions. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of customs, witness traditional wedding rituals, and even participate in some of the activities.
On September 13 and 14, the "Dranik Festival" takes centre stage, where the largest blintz in Belarus will be available. This celebration of the iconic Belarusian dish promises to be a gastronomic delight.
The third weekend (September 20 and 21) brings a reconstruction of the ancient Belarusian ritual "Bagach". This festival, held after the autumnal equinox, was a time for residents to gather and make a wreath with grain. This year, you can witness this fascinating tradition first-hand.
The weekend of September 20 and 21 also promises a programme filled with treats, thematic workshops, performances, and a folk-folklore and ethnographic ensemble. In addition, potato flowers will be used to create an original hair accessory during the event.
The last weekend of the month (September 27 and 28) will be dedicated to Belarusian mythology. The highlight of this weekend will be a costume contest for the best costume of a Belarusian mythological character. The winner of the contest will receive a prize.
Throughout the month, the "Sula" history park offers a Belarusian village, rides on a konik and a drakkar, a bakery, and a post office. Visitors can also send a postcard to any country in the world from the post office at the park.
