Westlake set to purchase ACI's compounding solutions division, which operates a factory in Romania.

In a significant move, Westlake Corporation, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of petrochemicals, polymers, and building products, has agreed to acquire the global compounding solutions businesses of ACI/Perplastic Group. The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to close in early 2026.

ACI/Perplastic Group, a Portugal-based global manufacturer of specialty materials, serves the wire and cable sectors. With four production facilities located in Mexico, Portugal, Romania, and Tunisia, the company manufactures polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyolefin, silicone, and thermoplastic rubber compounds.

The acquisition aims to expand Westlake's offerings, diversifying its product portfolio and strengthening its position in the wire and cable sectors. Westlake, headquartered in Houston, already produces PVC compounds and polyethylene, and has operations in Asia, Europe, and North America.

At the end of 2024, ACI had net sales of approximately EUR 210 million. The CEO of ACI/Perplastic Group, Pete Irani, will continue to lead the company post-acquisition. ACI is headquartered in Portugal's Guarda.

The transaction is subject to receipt of regulatory approvals, ensuring compliance with international business standards and regulations. The closing of the transaction is also contingent upon the fulfilment of customary closing conditions.

This strategic move is expected to bring synergies and growth opportunities for both companies, enhancing their competitive edge in the global market. More details about the transaction will be disclosed as the process progresses. Westlake Corporation trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WLK.
