WhatsApp potentially enabling iPhone users to share Live Photos with integrated sound and motion effects
WhatsApp Now Supports Apple's Live Photos in Latest iOS Beta
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature in its latest iOS beta, allowing users to share Live Photos on the instant messaging platform. This update, set for public rollout in the coming weeks, will enable users to send images with movement and sound.
The new feature is currently available to a select group of beta testers, with the support expanding to more users soon. To access this feature, users need to update to WhatsApp version 25.24.10.72.
In the gallery sheet on WhatsApp, a new option allows users to remove motion from Live Photos before sending. A small Live Photo icon appears on the thumbnail, and users can view the photo in live mode by pressing a dedicated button. If desired, users can disable the motion in a Live Photo with a single tap.
When shared on WhatsApp, Live Photos retain their full format, including audio and motion. However, users have the control to send the image as a regular still photo if they prefer. This can be done using a new toggle in the gallery and drawing editor.
Cross-platform compatibility is enhanced with this update. iOS Live Photos sent to Android devices appear as motion photos, and motion photos from Android display as Live Photos on iOS. If saved, the Live Photo remains a Live Photo in the iOS Photos app.

This is an exciting development for WhatsApp users, as it adds a new dimension to photo sharing on the platform. Stay tuned for more updates as the public rollout of this feature approaches.
