Which individual will assume the position of the city lord in Ochtrup?
The picturesque town of Ochtrup is set to host its annual Schützenfestspiele from September 12th to 13th, 2025. This year's event promises to be a grand spectacle, filled with tradition, music, and camaraderie.
The festivities will kick off with an assembly of all shooting brothers and sisters on the market square on September 12th at 5:15 PM. Each club will participate with a flag delegation and its festival board in uniform. The evening of September 13th will see a parade marching towards the city park, starting at 6:30 PM.
At the heart of the festival is the traditional city emperor shooting. This year, the christening ceremony will mark the start of the shooting, continuing a long-standing tradition. Thomas Eiling's bird "Heibriwine" will be christened for the festival.
Following the shooting, an ecumenical word of God service will take place in the festival tent at 7 PM. At around 11 PM, the coronation of the new city emperor couple will take place in the festival tent.
The bird shooting will be conducted under floodlights and will be accompanied by a concert of the Ochtrup music associations. The concert will be followed by the city emperor ball with the group "Limits," starting at 8 PM.
The dress code for the evening assembly on September 13th requires current kings and emperors to wear chains, queens to wear crowns, bouquets of flowers, and possibly a sash. Presidents and shooting brothers will appear in their usual club attire. Guests are asked to dress appropriately for a Kaiserball.
The city park will host various events throughout the day, including the city emperor festival. The public shooting festival party with "DJ PartyFire" will begin at 10 PM on September 13th (Saturday).
The marching route on September 13th leads from the market square via Lönsweg, Mühlenstraße, Kolpingstraße, Poststraße, Dränke circle/Dränke, Hospitalstraße, and Parkstraße to the city park.
The successor of City Emperor Heinrich Rotermann and the new representative of the shooting family at the Schützenfestspiele Ochtrup on September 12 and 13, 2025, has not been publicly announced yet. Regardless, the spirit of the festival remains the same - a celebration of tradition, camaraderie, and the thrill of the shoot.
