Which participant will outperform others in the asparagus race?
The spring season is upon us, and that means it's time for two exciting running events in Germany - the Asparagus Run in Schwetzingen and the Kayher Cherry Blossom Run in Herrenberg.
For the 14th time, Schwetzingen will host its Asparagus Run on April 6th. This run takes place within the beautiful palace garden and is open for participation. The start and finish will be at the Kreisparterre in front of the summer residence. Participants will pass through landmarks such as the orangery, the Roman water castle, and the garden mosque.
Interestingly, the Asparagus Run in Schwetzingen originally marked the end, not the beginning, of the asparagus season. However, this year, it signals the beginning of the asparagus harvest season in Schwetzingen.
In Herrenberg, Baden-Württemberg, a different tree fruit takes centre stage. The Kayher Cherry Blossom Run, now in its 33rd year, celebrates the cherry blossom. The organiser of this event is the TSV Kayh sports club. Last year, despite icy weather, a record number of 800 runners participated.
If you're interested in joining the Asparagus Run in Schwetzingen, you can contact Christoph Müller at 0711 66601-182 or via email at c.mueller@our website.
Meanwhile, in the southern Hessian town of Lampertsheim, there is a similar Asparagus Run, but it only takes place every six months on September 6th.
These running events are a great way to enjoy the beautiful spring season while getting some exercise. So, lace up your running shoes and get ready to participate!
