Windows 11's upcoming 25H2 version due soon will reportedly lack any new features, according to Microsoft's confirmation.
Windows users, get ready for the next big update! Microsoft is set to release the Windows 11 version 25H2, and it's shaping up to be a seamless experience.
Currently in testing in the Windows Insider Release Preview Channel, the update is expected to become generally available in the next few weeks, most likely in late September or early October 2025. This update will appear as an optional update in Windows Update.
Unlike a full-blown OS upgrade, the Windows 11 version 25H2 is delivered as an enablement package. This means it will build upon the existing features of Windows 11, sharing the same servicing branch and feature parity with version 24H2.
One of the key highlights of this update is that there should be zero compatibility issues or concerns between Windows 11 version 24H2 and 25H2. Microsoft has made updating to Windows 11 version 25H2 as smooth as possible. To install the update, users can go to Settings and Windows Update, then choose to download and install it.
After the support for version 24H2 ends, version 25H2 will be automatically installed to keep your PC supported. However, Microsoft always makes feature updates for Windows 11 optional until the previous version is no longer supported. This gives users the flexibility to update at their own pace.
Version 25H2 will not be automatically downloaded and installed for users on 24H2 until 24H2 runs out of support. There's no real reason to delay the update for version 25H2 as it makes no user experience or compatibility changes.
The reboot process for Windows 11 version 25H2 is expected to take only a few minutes. And good news for all you app and game enthusiasts, all apps and games should work without problems when upgrading to Windows 11 version 25H2.
However, there is one change to note. PowerShell 2.0 and Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC) are no longer available when upgrading to Windows 11 version 25H2.
The update to Windows 11 version 25H2 will include no new features at launch. But fear not, as Microsoft continues to innovate, we can expect more exciting updates in the future.
So, are you ready to embark on this smooth sailing update journey? Join the Windows Insider Release Preview Channel now to install version 25H2 before it becomes generally available. Let's all look forward to an improved Windows experience!
