Witnesses Flee Scene Following Road Accident in Bocholt-Mussum (Pol-Bor)

In the quiet town of Bocholt-Mussum, Germany, an unfortunate incident occurred on August 28, 2025. A white KIA ED was hit by an unknown road user in a parking bay on Ruenhorst street, near a logistics company. The accident took place between 14.00 hours and 20.55 hours.

The unknown person did not wait at the scene of the accident, as required by German law, and instead left a note on the damaged vehicle. However, this action did not prevent a potential hit-and-run charge, as leaving the scene after waiting and leaving one's name and address can still result in such a charge.

The damage to the property was significant, amounting to several thousand euros. The unknown person damaged the car along the entire driver's side and pushed it onto the sidewalk.

According to German law (§ 142 StGB), an appropriate time frame for waiting at the scene of an accident depends on the nature of the accident, but 30 minutes is considered the minimum. Failure to comply with this law can lead to a monetary fine or imprisonment for up to three years.
