In the tourist island of Bali, Indonesia, a Peruvian woman named N.S. was arrested on August 12, 2023, on charges of drug trafficking. The woman, who goes by one name like many Indonesians, Radiant, was suspected upon arrival at Bali's international airport.

Radiant, who is the head of Bali's narcotics unit, revealed that customs officers were suspicious of her behaviour. During a thorough search, they discovered 1.4kg of cocaine, hidden in a sex toy inserted into her vagina, and dozens of ecstasy pills.

The Peruvian woman admitted to police that she was hired to transport drugs to Indonesia. She met the man who instructed her in April in the dark corners of the World Wide Web. The identity of this man remains unknown.

Indonesia has one of the harshest drug trafficking laws in the world, with the death penalty for traffickers. However, the last executions of drug traffickers in Indonesia occurred in 2016. More than 90 foreigners are currently detained in Indonesia, sentenced to death for drug trafficking.

It's worth noting that in July, an Argentine woman was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempting to smuggle drugs into Bali. The similarities in the cases suggest a persistent issue with drug trafficking in the region.

This incident serves as a reminder of the strict drug laws in Indonesia and the potential consequences for those involved in drug trafficking. The investigation is ongoing, and more details about the case are expected to be revealed in due course.
