Woman in Gronau, Poland, sustains injuries; driver flees scene of accident

In the small town of Gronau, Germany, an accident occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 14.05 hours, at the intersection of Gildehauser Straße and Alter Postweg.

A 17-year-old Dutch girl from Losser was riding a scooter on Gildehauser Straße towards Gronau when the incident took place. The driver involved in the accident was traveling on the same street, heading towards the Netherlands.

According to reports, the driver overtook several cars at a railway crossing and turned sharply right into Alter Postweg, honking repeatedly during the maneuver. This sudden movement forced the 17-year-old to brake sharply, causing her scooter to skid, and she fell off.

Unfortunately, the driver did not stop to check on the injured girl after the accident and continued on their way. The fleeing vehicle is believed to be a dark Audi with an Ahaus license plate (AH-). The identity of the unknown driver is not publicly known at this time.

The 17-year-old sustained minor injuries in the fall and was taken to the hospital by the emergency services following the accident.
